Chicago will be saying farewell to this blues icon in style, blues performers will include: The Teardrops fronted by Shawn Holt (Magic Slim's son), John Primer, Otis Clay, Eddy Clearwater, Steve Cushing, Nalle (Denmark), Jimmy Burns, Linsey Alexander, Mike Wheeler, Billy Branch, Lonnie Brooks, Wayne Baker Brooks, Dave Specter, Eddie Shaw, Nick Moss, Grana Louise, Big Time Sarah, Zac Harmon, Matthew Skoller, Carl Weathersby, J.W. Williams, Lurrie Bell, Zora Young, Jimmy Johnson, Billy Boy Arnold, the Chicago Blues All-Stars and more to be announced. Mark your calendars for this event.

Magic Slim Funeral Information

The funeral service for Magic Slim will be at Horizons Community Church, 3200 Grainger Parkway, Lincoln, Nebraska on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at 10 a.m.

A musical memorial tribute is currently being planned in Chicago, IL. The Zoo Bar in Lincoln is also planning a musical tribute. Both tributes will be announced when details are finalized. These memorial tributes will be benefits with all proceeds going to Ann Holt and her family.

It is with great sorrow that I inform you that Magic Slim, a.k.a. Morris Holt of Grenada, Mississippi passed away Thursday, February 21, 2013. He will be missed by his family, friends and blues fans all over the world. Funeral arrangements and a Memorial Service will be announced later this week. The family wishes to thank everyone for their kind words and prayers.
